Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) cleaning services are no exception to the rule, take the cost of a cleaning additive and multiple it by at least 10 times and you’re getting close. That’s before you acknowledge the inconvenience of being without your car. Independent results show that £150+ for a DPF cleaning service is not uncommon.
DPF Regeneration refers to the cleaning and clearing of the collected materials from the DPF. You do DPF Regeneration to prevent the soot from clogging up the filter. And to clear the material, the DPF burns them via the heat of the exhaust (passive regeneration) or via extra fuel injected into the device (active regeneration).
I originally thought that I could put in a zener diode with a fixed voltage of 0.75V onto the signal wire of the pressure diff sensor and then gut the DPF (I'd still need a muffler), but I suspect that would eventually put the computer into limp home mode because I think (but do not know) that the ECU expects to see that pressure difference increase over time and so the reference voltage would
The correct answer seems to be take it off yourself and take it to a shop that has a kiln. There is a baking "recipe" that goes something like 1,100 degrees for 4 hours or some such. After baking, you let it cool and then blow it out with an air compressor. But I would like a DIY solution.

There are two primary reasons for deleting the DPF system on the 6.7 Cummins. First is for performance purposes. Since the DPF system is part of the exhaust, it creates a lot of backpressure which detracts from performance potential. Secondly, the DPF system is prone to clogging and costs $2k+ to replace when it clogs.
